Anthea Vayonitis - Contemporary Immersive Abstract Artist

About

Anthea Vayonitis is an emerging contemporary artist working across painting, dance, and meditative practice. Her work emerges through intuitive process, where gesture and flow operate like a dance—each mark informing the next to form a personal lexicon of movement, rhythm, and embodied perception. Through abstraction, she translates nature into fields of colour, sensation, and energetic presence, working within a flow state where painting becomes a channel for life force and perceptual exchange. Canvas forms the grounding surface of her practice, where textile yarn extends painting into space, generating a tactile, multi-dimensional field between surface, line, and form.

Bio

Anthea Vayonitis is a Melbourne-based emerging artist, graduating in Master of Fine Art at RMIT, Melbourne, Naarm. In 1995 Anthea completed a Bachelor of Fashion Design, RMIT, Melbourne, Naarm, alongside experienced training in Dance. Anthea works with painting through an intuitive process. Abstraction, colour and sensation are explored through the metaphysical energies in nature. Like a dance, one mark informs another and in creating a personal lexicon, energy is represented as life force. She has participated in several art workshops led by Australian artist Yvette Coppersmith. Anthea took part of an artist residency at Loaf Gallery, formerly known as Landslide, Wentworth Falls, Blue Mountains, where is also had a studio visit with Australian artist, Gene A ‘Hern.
