About
Anthea Vayonitis is an emerging contemporary artist working across painting, dance, and meditative practice. Her work emerges through intuitive process, where gesture and flow operate like a dance—each mark informing the next to form a personal lexicon of movement, rhythm, and embodied perception.
Through abstraction, she translates nature into fields of colour, sensation, and energetic presence, working within a flow state where painting becomes a channel for life force and perceptual exchange.
Canvas forms the grounding surface of her practice, where textile yarn extends painting into space, generating a tactile, multi-dimensional field between surface, line, and form.
Bio
Anthea Vayonitis is a Melbourne based artist whose practice is shaped by states of deep attention, where making becomes an act of attunement to subtle energetic and perceptual forces. Within painting, dance, and meditative process, gesture functions as a threshold between physical movement and immaterial sensation.
Her works arise from encounters with nature understood as vibration, rhythm, and presence rather than representation. These encounters are translated through abstraction into shifting fields of colour and energetic resonance, where meaning remains fluid and continuously unfolding.
Each work develops as an accumulation of embodied marks, forming a living surface where gesture is recorded as trace, rhythm, and flow. This process operates as both channel and choreography, where painting becomes a way of sensing rather than depicting.
In this expanded field, her practice moves between matter, surface, atmosphere, and metaphysical nature through stillness and activation.
